I guess you can't make any money with this (unless you are mozilla and want to increase your browser-market-share). So exclusive rights are not that attractive :).

unfortunately not. photoshop only. it shouldnt be that hard to produce an addon though. but no js skills atm :)

The evolutionary next step after tabs is the split layout. For this reason I am using a tiling window manager (xmonad), because its great to have tabs inside splited windows

In your concept you shuld add horizontal split as well.
